Why does comp.lang.lisp attract so many kooks, crackpots, cranks and loonies?

Being a member of each of those sets, I guess my answer would be everybody has to be somewhere. At least we have common interests. And ending with a question: are you sure you aren't reversing cause and effect? (In the case of the C language, I was only in one of those sets before I started using it.)
